Default Calibre K40 Light

I recently bought a CPO Audi S5 (woohoo!), and so far my biggest gripe is the integrated Calibre K40 radar detector. The detector itself doesn't bother me, but the incredibly bright blue LED on the dash is utterly blinding at night.

Does anyone have a good way to dim the light (either with a resistor or some coating?), otherwise can I turn the light off completely somehow with the remote?

And yes, I know the K40 is nowhere near as good as the Valentine or the Escort, but it was essentially free with the car.

Beltronics sti-r plus is better than all 3 of those. Try radardetector.net

I just called K40 today and asked them the same question. Their answer - "You need to add a 10 ohm resistor on the bulb". I'm going to my local installer next week to see if he can do it.
