CAUTION
I don't think anyone should be doing any VIN checks unless it's a used car for sale.
Then check out carfax. OTherwise, I don't see a logical reason for this line of questioning.

You can find some 411 about decoding the digits of a VIN, but in general it identifies the year, manufacturer, place of manufacture, and then a serial number.
