Default Can someone with an A5/S5 please help re: ESP light?

Is the "ESP OFF" light located just below the CD and above the a/c controls supposed to always be ON? (Please see picture) When my car lights are on, this lights seems to always read ESP OFF. If I press this button, it stays lit. When my car lights are off, this button is not lit.

When I press it the digital display where my speedometer is, simply cycles thru ESP ON, ESP OFF, ABS OFF each time I press the button.

It is confusing to me. Is this the normal behavior or is this light supposed to be lit only when ESP is truly off?

Thanks!!!

it's lit so you can see it in the dark. you mentioned a warning light on the instrument panel. Go by that. The ESP is always working unless you decide to turn it off which that switch will do. Look for the indicator on the cluster to know that it's really off.

So if I am understanding you correctly, even if I press the button it should stay lit?
That is how it works in your car?

Thanks again.

Correct, it's always lit. The only indicator for the ESP actually being disabled is the light in the upper area of the instrument cluster as JGA5Cab stated.

It should only be lit when the lights are on like every other switch or button in the car. The light sensor is sensitive so you may see the button glowing red when it's not real dark out yet. You can adjust that in the MMI. I probably shouldn't discuss that since this is confusing enough for you.
