Hi guys:
I was wondering if someone could tell me the difference between eg. Brillian Black vs any of the other metallic colors on an Audi. Are metallic paints more durable and have better resistance to the elements vs the regular paints? Please educate me.
Thanks.

suspended in the base paint. no difference in durability or resistance to the elements. you didn't ask, but pearl paints use different colored mica flakes instead of alu flakes. again, no differences in longevity or protection.

The samples on paper or online do no justice.
Brilliant black will show any and all scratches very easily compared to Phantom Black.

they don't offer that as an option for the A5. That color can only be had with the S5. And my favourite color is black.

... and this may have been true at some point in the past but I'm not sure it is anymore.
One thing is for sure, though - if you end up getting a gloss black exterior, be ready to wash it all the time and to be careful to avoid the swirling and other issues that are more easily visible on glossy non-metallic black.
