Just ordered an iPhone 4, but I currently use a 3GS running iOS4 since the update released at the end of June. I've had no problems regarding bluetooth connectivity with my 3G MMI. I'll post back here after my iPhone 4 arrives and I pair it with my car.

Anybody try to use the bluetooth profile to play music through the MMI? Or, are you all just having to connect it to the 30 pin connector? I know the beta 4.1 supports the full bluetooth playback control functionality. Just curious as it would be MUCH nicer. I don't have my car yet, but it seems like a pain to have to open up the glovebox to connect the phone.

Then again, I understand the overall convenience of having one device for phone and music.

My iPhone 4 BT paired with my 2010 S5 & 2008 A6 without any problem. I have also tried plugging the iPhone 4 in with the iPod Cable in the S5. When I do this, I get a warning message that says this device is "not optimized" for the MMI....or something along those lines. Other then the waraning message, it seems to work fine. I normally have an iPOD nano plugged in the car and it stays in the car. Generally only use the iPhone 4 for the phone function only.
If anyone wants me to test out anything let me know. Be happy to experiment.

With the 4.0 software, iPhone 4 was perfect with MMI in the 2010 A5.
But when updating to 4.0.1, I noticed that if I am in a call, and then shut off my car and bluetooth shuts off, the call continues as normal, but I cannot see anything on my iPhone screen.
If I want to hang up, I have to "turn on" the screen by hitting home, then go back to the call screen and then hang up.
Anyone else noticing this?

I have an iPhone 4 since a couple of weeks. Paring it with the MMI system of my A6 (august 2009) via bluetooth was no problem, except for 1 thing.
All my contacts are shown twice in the MMI screen. A detailed look into this contacts learned that every pair of contatcs seems the same but differs a little (eg. one contact shows all information and the 2nd doesn't show the emailaddress).
It seems if there are 2 contactlists 'downloaded'. But my iPhone only contains 1 set of contacts (as synchronised with my laptop).
Any idea how to solve this?

Audi used to provide a Bluetooth module for AMI that allowed for A2DP streaming with the previous generation MMI, but I don't think that works with the 3G MMI. That sucks for me as well, since I would like to supplement my SD cards with Pandora or TuneIn Radio when I switch over to an Android phone. Alas, I think I'll have to get the AMI Aux cable and figure out a way to control it without looking like I'm texting :P
