Default Does the S5 have a Battery Charge Meter in the MMI ?

I've been used to checking the level of my battery charge in the MMI screen in my 2006 Audi A6, which shows 10 bars, symbolizing 100% charged if all 10 bars are red.

I don't seem to find a battery charge meter in the S5's MMI, have you? Or is there even one ?

I *think* it can be enabled through the Hidden Menu.

Drat .. that's not good. I'd rather have the 'Battery meter' than the 'Oil Level meter'.

The only thing the manual says is that once you start the car and if you have a low battery charge, you then get a light warning. Still doesn't tell you how much charge you have left But I probably don't have to worry about this until the next 5 years.

^ This.

You have to first enable the hidden MMI menu using VCDS, then you can specify that you want the battery display added to the MMI's CAR menu. Once you do that - the photos below show the Battery Level choice on the Car menu and what the display shows.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is the VCDS?

The system formerly known as "Vag-Com." Vag-Com = "Volkswagon - Audi Group Communications," and VCDS = "Vag-Com Diagnostic System."

Dang. How much is a basic Vag com system (just the basic system)?
Is it the $99 software + the $35 usb 2.0 cable interface that links your laptop to your car = $134
