I'm not so sure that Audi is limited to output based on current transmission choices (besides S-Tronic). I would think that they could have a seperately designated transmission that is upgraded to handle the torque of the new twin turbo V8s fairly easily. One thing to note is that part numbers already exist for the TT V8s according to some. Not saying that your theory is incorrect (it could very well be on track) however there are a lot of people saying that there is real evidence that a TT V8 is on the horizon to take out BMW's M's. The valvelift didn't do a whole lot for the 3.2 V6 so I can't imagine how they can get the current 4.2 to have the output that they will need with that alone. At the very least we should all know the direction that Audi is headed after the RS6 is released relatively soon.

Is there no other manual that can handle the torque? I'm sure manual Ferraris and Porsches run much higher numbers than that.
Alternatively, they could use the sequential seen on the R8.
