Default Excessive Oil Consumption

I have a 2011 A5 2.0T which is consuming oil greater than expected. I the "oil min" light came on notifying me add a quart of oil. I added a quart and not even a 100 miles later the same light came back on.

I also noticed that my exhaust tips are dirty. I read a few articles about the excessive oil consumption, but there wasn't a official recall.

Has anyone experienced this? If so, any ideas of what the problem might be?

I assume you can buy a dipstick and measure the oil in the pan. There have been some comments here where the oil level indication in the MMI was not working properly.

+1. Also, Exhaust tips get dirty quickly even on my GTI with the 2.0L TFSI engine. I have read about the inaccuracy of the electronic oil level indicator. I bought a dipstick for my S5 so I can get a second opinion just in case my electronic oil level indicator gives me a false reading.

Here is the oil dipstick at ECS. https://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B8_S5...oupe/ES280765/ I suggest you get one soon. I bought mine at the dealer and it was a bit more expensive. FYI my S5 has used zero oil in my first 6000 miles with the car. It had 8000 miles when I purchased it.Now at 14000. You COULD have a PCV system problem but burning quart of oil that quickly would result in lots of visible smoke. Good luck.

OP owns a 2011 A5 with the 2.0L TSI engine. Here is the oil dip stick for that engine.

There is a known and well publicized problem with the 2.0T engine from 2009-2011 or so. Audi will help you fix the problem if you perform the necessary steps.

When I took my car to the dealer they did an oil consumption test and verified that it was burning more oil than it should. The dealership agreed to replace the pistons and o-rings free of charge.
