Default A few Questions?

I have ordered a Brillant Black S5 with black/silver alcantara, tech, nav, B&O ss, carbon, and side assist. I have heard that I should be expecting this about August but still have a few questions.

I know that most of the technology on this car is new and I am a little scared of it. Have there been any problems with this new technology? What about in the long run?

I am looking for a chip that wont void the warranty. Are there any out there and what kind of performance boost could I expect and for how much?

I am looking for a great set of tires that are going to last for a while. I was wondering what tires have come on the cars stock? I was thinking about the goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 or the michelin pilot sport ps2. Any recomendations?

What about Winter tires? I was looking at Dunlop sp winter sport 3D.
I was also thinking about buying a second set of wheels (I know I should for the Winter tires) but I was gooing to use the original wheels for the winter tires if possible. But I dont think that the winter tires will fit on the original rims.

Thank you for your help!

Default Snow tires will fit, I run them on my OEM RS6 wheels. Michelin PS2s excellent. I

do have two sets of OEM wheels, 18s for winter (Dunlops), 19s for summer. Any chip if found will void warranty. Best is some version of direct port tuning (software reprogram) through the diagnostic port that can be put back to stock mode when car goes in for service. However with your engine there is limited gaines for the $$.

Do you have the link for Unitronic? It won't violate the warranty?

Default I wouldnt worry about direct port.

Techs can only tell if its chipped by a noticeable difference in power when driving, and chipping an S5 wont be very noticeable.... A turbo car is much different, and direct port is a wise choice.

I should ask if there is a good set of winter tires that will fit on the original wheels because I would like to run 19's all year round.

I also heard that the PS2 dont last as long as the F1's do, is that true?

Default I don't think there is any guarantee of that unless audi did it...

but as others have said good to have a stock mode. If they scan hard they can still find the coding, but they need a reason to do that. Also that added changes are questionable to their overall impact on the engine. They can't deny other claims like electrical or suspension and such with that type of mod, bascially only if the engine blows (unlikely) or the ECU is toasted, but if the ECU dies guess they wouldn't find that code anyway.........

Default My 2 cents

I would hold out on the chip until there are more options. I bet all the chip guys will have an offering in 6 months. I am waiting for them to all sort out chip and exhaust. Right now AWE has my eye.

As for snows...If I were to do it I would take the stock 19s and get the dunlop winter sports and get another set of 19s (maybe 20s) for summer. The car comes with Dunlop Sport Maxx which I now have 1000 miles on and don't think they are all that bad. I will at least burn them off first. The Eagle F1 GS-D3 would be my choice. I have had M PS 2s before and thought they were a bit stiff. Not sure on the S5 though. I will be interested to see what others do and read the reviews.

Default I run a separate set of 18"s with Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3Ds

for the winter and the factory 19s for the other three seasons.

The Winter Sports are a good compromise for dry weather and snow performance!

Derek
