My exhaust tips are filthy... stained black now and the stains don't come off even when I wash the car.
How do I get the old chrome shining through again? Do I need certain products and a toothbrush?

I just did my wife's neglected is250 exhaust tips (which runs as rich when cold as does my A5)
1. Griots wheel cleaner, just to get the general greasy/carbon stuff off.
2. Mothers California Gold Chrome polish is excellent, as are a number of others.
