Although the S5 is no R8 - The look of the R8 V10 TDI was my inspiration.

and to a lesser extent the Shooting Brake.

Disclaimer: This look may not appeal to everyone and may be either a love it or hate it feeling. The emblem is the R8 Audi emblem and is slightly smaller than the trunk emblems. I purchased this powdercoated mesh from customcargrills.com and it's a thick heavy mesh - high quality, but I have since found Audi-type mesh and will be replacing it. I am also toying with the idea of putting the S5 slats back in but probably won't because my new look is drastically minimized chrome/bling, especially when it comes to the wheels.

I think most of you will prefer this look below, as it is more traditional. I admit it feels more comfortable for me to like it as well.

I think both looks cool, but i would choose with rings in grill, without it looks naked.
The only other thing i would change is the grey plate holder to black or body color.
Jarod.

The front plate holder for the A5 is piano black, so I don't think replacing it would be a problem. However, I was wondering if you can remove the front plate holder altogether and replace the whole front with the mesh grill...that might give it more the R8 look.

i love the top pic
i would buy that if it were available
i think it would look great with the S-line front bumper insert without the numberplate frame
it's much more simple than the busy standard S5 grille
that has too much stuff going on horizontally and vertically
