Default Front license plate

I notice that most of the pics posted do not have a front license plate. Here in ND we are required to have one, but on my last three Audis (V-8 Quattro, '99 A6, '06 A6) I left it off and had the plain plate installed. Ditto for the new A5. Get stopped about once a year, sometimes a warning and sometimes a $20 ticket. I think most states require a front plate. How do you all in those states handle the issue if stopped without one?

Default I've never been stopped on the road...just get parking tickets every once

in awhile. I just eat those. With Audi's it just looks like crap as you know. So i just eat them. I just would make a dumb comment such as my car didn't come with the plate holder and i am from Florida (where it is not required) so i didn't really know i had to...and the other plate is sitting in the trunk. Granted i'm not that dumb but whatever.

Default I too have never been stopped.

I live in Colorado where the front plate is required. I did get a ticket once from a meter maid, but I've never been stopped. It's worth it to me to pay the $20 ticket, once every 10 years, to not have the plate.

Default In CA I ran my 280Z without one. I don't care about the esthetics anymore so I run them

Default German front plate

Had just a German plate up front and the NJ in back. Stopped twice and finally a ticket ($50). Now I just have the German plates "behind" the NJ plates front and rear so they can't sat anything.

Default "Only" $300. No suspension. Click for full story.

For starters, this was probably 13 years ago now. 2AM on a Saturday morning and I'm driving home from a friends (wasn't drinking... thank god). Doing 80 in an Eagle Talon TSI AWD in the high speed lane on RT 95 in Providence RI. Turns out that the speed limit on this section of highway is only 50mph (a joke!) Not many cars on the road. A car comes flying up behind me and gets on my ***. I couldn't see his headlights in his rear view mirror since he was so close. I pulled over. He pulled over behind me. I pulled over again, so did he. I said to my girlfriend (now wife) if this f'n guy pulls over again behind me, I'm gone. I figured he was drunk and wanted to race. So I pull over, and he does again, so I take off. Hit at least 115mph before I see the red and blue lights in my rear view mirror. Turns out the car was a State Trooper. I pull over and the Trooper catches up and pulls in behind me. He and his buddy come up to the window. I am not one to argue with anyone, especially a cop, but I really felt like I got screwed here. I respectly tell him my side of the story. I guess he believed part of it, since I didn't get arrested, and he gave me a ticket for only 80 mph, plus a summons for not having a front plate. The "best" part is the cop had a camera crew get out of the car and film the whole thing. As the cop is in the car writing up the ticket, I'm so furious, I start singing the Bad Boy, Bad Boy, what you gonna do when the come for you... theme from Cops.

Anyways, I decided to fight the ticket on absolutely no legal grounds. The cop had to show up in court. He told the judge his side of the story, and I told mine. Nothing like admitting to a judge you were doing 105 mph. He just looked at me (always wear a suit to court), shook his head and asked if I had put the plate back on. I said yes. He said $300, slow down, and Next! True story.

Default Did the camera crew at least laugh when you were singing?

At first, i thought, as i was reading it, you were thinking you had to get a way from the wacko behind you (for safety's sake- and maybe that's you were inferring), and that was going to be your story to the judge.

Hopefully, you look back at that and chuckle.

Life isn't always fair, but it's life- good story.
