The reliability of CVT's comes up from time to time. However, I have yet to find one bit of evidence from the auto world, Audi, all the blog forums, ect. that these things are failing or fail faster than a conventional transmission. If anyone has some proof, I'd love to see it.
I think the CVT A6 is a raging value for what you get.

Yes, it's a great value (2012 A6 - 2.0 with CVT) as long as the engine and the transmission are reliable.

Hi. My GF just got a 2013 A5. its a FWD but the dealer kind of confused her and implied it was a quattro. well whats done is done but im trying to see what the pro's / con's are. for one thing the dealer told her that used quattro (in Silicon Valley ) only sell for a few hundred more than FWD because people dont want to pay much premium since weather is generally good. KBB seems to say the used car price difference of Quattro vs FWD is about $1400 so Im not sure the dealer is right. what do you think?

also i was kind of thnking that the FWD is probably better acceleration than AWD just because of less weight and less mechnical friction and stuff. do you think that is negligible?

regarding the CVT, Im not even sure what option we have (there is no records). it has an 8 speed shiftable automatic. does that mean this is NOT the CVT? i did see online that the car came with 2 options for tranny.

thanks!
