Default Gas Guzzler Tax: Manual v. Auto

I keep getting this nothing that some people think that the gas guzzler tax is only on either the auto or the manual.
It's for both, no?

Based purely on MPG as far as my research has informed me.

Default I can assure you it is only on the manual

Everyone with manual I know got dinged with it, and my Tip did not. It's a minor improvement in MPG for the auto, but it was just enough to pass under the bar.

Default I don't know why there is so much confusion:

Default thank you so much!

My dealer promised me the car for MSRP, but told me there WAS a gas guzzler tax.
Seems like that might be a way to sneak in a little extra $ in the price.

TO: rdilliker, I found that PDF as well. Thanks.
Going to bring the print out when I go to pay and pick up the car.
Will update you.

There's probably a lot of confusion, because it might be a common dealer trick to jack up the price.

Default It is hard to believe, but true - how many cars out there get better mileage with automatics?

Cars with the dual clutch semi-auto transmission beat the comparable manual, which makes sense. But I dont know of any case, besides the Audi V8's, where a version of a car with a torque converter beats a comaparable version with a manual. Happens with the S4 too.

Default hey all...

Maybe it was an innocent mistake on the part of my sales guy - as he was new at the time.

I'm going to look for my original order slip.
I'm positive they put a GGT on my TIP order.

And y'all are making me feel like I'm retarded.
