Continental Extrem-Contact DWS, which is more than adequate for the Pacific NW winters.

Actually, I just realized that this you winter set-up. For winter rims, they look pretty good. Why did you decide to go with 19s?

what size tires. Did you stay with 255 35 19s? Anyone ever think of doing 245 40 19s ... a bit extra meat for pot hole protection and slightly thinner may tread through snow better?
ALSO. If one wants to get Hartmann Wheels do they have to go through Achtuning or can they go through Hartmann direct? ... I am seriously considering these for my 2005 A6.

Yes, I stayed with OEM setup but you are correct, a higher profile setup would be more ideal for the winter. In fact, I would have drop down to 18's if I were still living in NYC. But here in the PNW, I should be fine with the 19's. Also, it is my plan to stay with this setup after the factory summers are worn (~10K miles, according to the forums). So, it is best for me to stay with the OEM sized tires.

Achtuning is Hartmann. Bill Hartmann bought Achtuning from Josh Decker a couple of years ago.

How do you like the ET25 offset? I am considering the Hartmsnn 252 RS4 style for my winter package and it comes in either 25 or 38 offset depending on finish.

Even known in theory, one would want to use wheels with a smaller offset for winter use, but since I knew that I was going to use them as my regular set eventually, I wanted to to stay as close to the original offset of ET32 if possible. And since I don't want to use or deal with spacers, ET38 was not going to work for me. ET25, while not exactly ideal academically for a winter setup, will look better overall. And with the differences being only 7mm, is IMO, acceptable for the PNW winter.

With that said, due to La Nina effect, we are suppose to have a worse than normal winter this year. Even so, I still think I will be okay, but I am prepared to deal with the consequences.

Hope this helps.

I decided to go with the ET25 and 19s as well. Although I am in the northeast, I just want to be able to use the car for cold weather driving and to get up my driveway when there is ice or a thin coat of snow. I dont need to use the car in heavy snow conditions.

Please share pictures of your car with us after you have them mounted on.
