Hello all, as you can see, I've owned a 1982 Audi Coupe, 2001 and 2003 TT's, 2005 S4, and now a 2008 S5. I've loved each and every one of them. I bought my wife a 2012 Q5 last August, and we now have our first child, a three month old girl. I've been eyeing the 2013 S5, attracted by the facelift, the tech, and the V6 with its gas mileage. Our dealer had a 2013 S4 on the lot today, and my service advisor is telling me I should seriously consider the S4 over the S5 so that it's easy to get a child in and out of either car. I'd like to buy my first tiptronic (always been a manual transmission guy) so that my wife can move the cars around our tandem parking.
First, the dealer is telling me that the S4 and S5 drive very similarly and are basically identical except for the number of doors. Is that true? It seems that the S5 is a couple of thousand more than the S4, so price isn't really as much of an issue. My manual S5 only has 36,000 miles, a Miltek exhaust, full tint, and I'd imagine that I can sell it privately for about $40,000.
What do you think? Do you think that both my wife and I need four doors? For the foreseeable future, she's a stay at home mom. Am I selfish for wanting a sexy two door over the more practical four door?
Thanks

Last time I drove both the 2011 S5 and S4 I felt that the S4 was distinctly more nimble, in particular the turn in was more precise. That being said, with the v6, I'm sure the 2013 S5 feels a lot better, and less nose heavy. It really comes down to the 4 drs. I think the 2013 S5 looks miles better than the S4, and if I didn't frequently have visitors and recently dump a bunch of money on my S4 I would have bought the 2013 S5. It looks amazing.
If you need rear space, there's no way you're fitting a child seat back there.
