Default help with radio receiver on 2010 s5

i’m needing to replace my radio receiver but unable to find the exact part i need. i’ve called the dealership and they gave me the part number 4g0035080g. i’ve looked all over and haven’t been able to find the radio receiver with this exact part number so would i be able to switch it out with maybe another part number?

Assuming this is a NAR market MY10 with MMI 3G, the original radio would have been 4F0 035 080 A. But that's been dropped and now R&R (repair and replace) uses 4G0 035 080 G. The "080" part number is the correct part number from a catalog perspective. But on the sticker on the unit, it's going to say "082". Since used parts sellers tend to only know what's actually stamped on the unit, you're probably only going to find 4G0035082G on eBay, etc. For example, https://wolfautoparts.com/radio-tune...g-ps21436.html

The radio unit is easy to physically replace (just sits in the left rear cubby hole in the cargo area). And then use VCDS to confirm it's actually working. You'll have a DTC for component protection, and the radio will not be fully functional. But you should be able to hear audio such as from the navigation or the bluetooth handsfree. Only then would I bother to go to the dealership to get the component protection reset.

"not able to" is not an explanation. Why would one leave without an actual explanation of why they couldn't perform the task? Was the unit flagged as stolen in the Audi database? If it didn't work, there was an error. What was it.

Why is the radio unit being replaced? Does the original actually not work? Or is it just flaky?

The dealership probably lacks people sufficiently versed in MMI 3G update concerns. Which is inexcusable for a dealership. Can't say anything for sure because I'm not there, I'm not hands on with what's going on. You need someone there dealing with it to be better than they have been thus far.
