Spoke to someone who did the R8 (pics floating around). He said it's very sensitive to scratches...
... fingernails, rags, etc. - they can leave shiny scratches. Those scratches are apparently restored to matte with denatured alcohol.

Found local installers. $3-5K for install, depending upon labor time. Materials alone are over $1K.
It's essentially like paying for a full re-spray; however, the durability and resilience of this stuff is supposed to be much greater than matte/flat paint. Scratches come out with denatured alcohol, it's easy to clean grease marks and dirt (whereas it can be a PITA with matte/flat paint), and the chip resistance is excellent.
At that price, it's obviously not something I'd just do on a whim (which is what I was hoping).
