Default How dark is too dark?

Purchased a 2013 Q5 SLine for my wife a couple weeks ago. I was so impress with the Audi after driving it I went back and purchased a 2013 S5 for myself.

Yesterday I called out my tinter and he came and tinted did my car while I wasn't there. I told him to match the glass on the roof.

I walked in as he was finishing up and I was shocked to see how dark it really was.

Looks good but I'm not sure i like it. He said he used American Standard 25% Tint.

Crier, welcome aboard! What do your local laws dictate concerning window tint?

Local law dictates a $125 fine times three.

We will see I guess.

First fine it comes off.

I think uberwgn is asking what your local law is when it comes to how dark are you allowed to tint the windows, not how much the fine is.

In case you are not aware, 25% tint means it allows 25% of the light to pass through and not blocking out 25% of the light. If it is legal in your State, it then comes down to a matter of personal taste.

I had some tint on a preowned A7 that I had for a half year. I noticed that it was hard to see things at night such as pedestrians and cyclists that were approaching from the side. You may find it too dark based on vision alone.

I'm my province, no tint is allowed on driver/passenger front windows or back window, unless factory.

Again, $125 per window.

My had my wife's Q5 done in 45% tint and I don't think it should be an issue since the factory tint on the back windows and rear window is already quite dark.

I have 15% on everything but windshield which in Missouri is illegal as 35% is allowed but you can't have any tint on front windows. Got a speeding ticket and the officer tested my windows with the thing he slide on and it said 13% but warned me bc it started raining. 15% is probably too dark as it limits visibility significantly - night time is worse but that's just how I like it.

It seems across many car boards , some of the most front lighting , brightness, bulb temp etc obsessed car nuts are also often the same who make looking out side window to see cars, pedestrians, etc next to impossible at night , lol Don't even get me started on those who brag about how dark they tinted their WINDSHIELDS.
