For now, the Q7 and possibly Q5 will have to do until the A4 gets it's 3.0 for the 2009MY. Nobody can claim the same fame as Audi has done with Diesel, in particular racing.

I've long stated I would never buy a car without a clutch pedal; I like the snick-snick and feel just too much, otherwise you may as well be driving a Tiptronic IMHO.

I'm wondering because they are simply AWESOME gear boxes.
I had an E46 M3 with SMG (which sucks compared to the DSG Audi makes) and it was incredible. Only incredible in S6 mode when driven hard, but incredible none the less. On a track it would be great.
The DSG is even better.
Auto mode in the SMG sucked.
Auto mode in the DSG is actually pretty good.
I always thought the lack of driver involvement would be a terrible thing until I had the SMG (my wife doesn't drive manual). It was quite impressive.

We don't have snow or bad weather in san diego so AWD is pretty much worthless unless I lived in New England or the midwest than Audi would trump BMW. I cannot see the reason to pay a premium for an A5 or S5 over a 335i or 135i coupe that performs better and has the 4 years free maintenance included.

In all of the latest car magazines the RS4 came in dead last against the new BMW M3 and the Mercedes C63 and cost more money.
However, if I saw a used RS4 with low miles for 30k then it would be a good deal. It will happen as Audis depreciate quickly and drop in value like a rock just like used Infinitis drop like crazy in resale value. BMW and Mercedes hold the value better.

A loaded M3 costs about 65-70k and a loaded S5 costs about 58-60k.
Actually the real competition is not the S5 but the new RS4 and if they come out the RS5 to the new BMW M3. The RS4 costs almost 75k fully loaded and more than the M3.

Actually the real comparison was between the Audi RS4 and the new BMW M3. The RS4 costs more and has 6 more HP but is heavy and slower and does not handle as well as the new M3. But to credit, the RS4 has a nicer interior than the new M3.
I really need to test drive both the RS4 and new M3 and see which car I prefer.
