On vehicles that DO NOT have the Drive Select feature, just what does Sport Mode do besides change the shift points?
The book only says "the transmission will not uo-shift as soon, allowing the vehicle to use the increased power available at higher engine speeds..."
Are there any other changes in the car that occur, such steering or throttle response?

I don't have Drive Select and use Sport mode occasionally for fun. I haven't noticed anything with respect to the steering but I do think there's a noticeable difference in the gear shifting. It clearly feels like a slightly more aggressive drive which is fun for me in spurts.

I do not believe there are any other changes.
I will say - I originally ordered a S5 cab with drive select. They got in a different one without drive select about 45 days before mine came in and I took it for a test drive. After driving it I was seriously thinking about looking at other cars. When my S5 cab with drive select came in I test drove it again and decided to stay with the S5. I personally would not buy the car without drive select and its dynamic mode. It makes a huge difference in the way the car handles and performs.

I had ADS on my last A4 and Dynamic mode is different than just sport mode on a non-ADS car. Steering and suspension are much tighter.
I don't really miss it though.
