How do you track a build once you have a D number from the dealer?

If in US, call AOA at 1-800-822-2834 (AUDI). Tell them the D number, they will give you the build, port, in dealer days.

I've contacet AoA with my commission number twice, and they were unable to give me any solid build info for a 2011 A5. They were able to pull my configuration and estimate an Aug delivery.

I have a 2011 S5 on order. My dealer provided me with the production, shipping and delivery estimates when the commission number was assigned. I have asked for and received 2 updates so far from her, when it was released for production and when it was loaded on the ship. Thanks to someone who has also ordered an S5 at the same time as myself he was able to provide me the name of the ship it was loaded on. It should unload in Houston and transported by rail from there.

As long as your not requesting daily updates i am pretty sure your dealer will have no problem providing you with updates.
