Huge discrepancy in estimated fuel economy figures between Canada and USA
According to Audi Canada, the estimated fuel economy of the A5 2.0T is 9.5l/100km city and 6.5l/100km highway. That translated into 25/36 mpg, respectively. According Audi USA, the estimated fuel economy is 21/31 mpg.
My car is only a week and a half old and I haven't done a lot of highway driving yet, by my city numbers are pretty consistent with Audi USA's estimate: 20.5 mpg. I have never been able to get anywhere close to 25 mpg though.
Is this just another case of us Canadians being fed a line of BS by the automakers (kind of like the excuses they make for charging us $6,000.00 more than they charge our southern neighbors for the same german car that is subject to the same WTO-mandated import tariffs)? Or is there an alternative explanation?

i know you don't use mpg, but i thought you might have used the wrong conversion (to imperial, not US gallon).
I looked at both websites too--- that IS a big discrepancy. No idea.

No worry mate. The number auto makers BS up in Canada is no where close to what it's in Europe. Looking at their numbers, I feel like they all are driving electric cars lmao

The way you drive and other environmental factors play a major role in the actual mpg you get. Also, your engine is new and not broken in yet. The Audi Canada site numbers are probably based on ideal driving condition with perfect weather. Personally, I prefer to use the mpg numbers from US federal www.fueleconomy.org website, their new MPG figures reflect the effects of:
-Faster Speeds & Acceleration
-Air Conditioner Use
-Colder Outside Temperatures

here's a website that probably explains the reason.... testing methods, emissions, have big factors in the descrepancy.

Look at the section titled: Why do Canadian fuel consumption ratings differ from the US ratings?
