Default Incredible gas mileage!

Got 35 MPG in the A5 on my freeway drive home from work today. With the AC on. In summer heat.

Granted, the traffic was flowing at a steady 70-80, but I wasn't even trying to hypermill.

Then I drove up the hill to my house and it plummetted to . . . 31 MPG.

Looks like I'll be getting ~33 for my commute, and it hasn't even been broken in yet.

I love this car.

Default + 1 ... I maxed at 33.5 mpg the other day averaging around 40 mph at night

AC was on! 650 miles so far! Seems like a good sign!..

Default Your actual MPG might differ from what's reported

After several fill-ups, I was able to confrim that my trip computer was reading about 5% high. That's 1.5 mpg out of 30. I used VAG-COM to calibrate it and it reads correctly now.

Still good mileage though.

Agreed... the real way to tell is to measure b/w fill-ups.. I'll know soon

Default Re: Incredible gas mileage!

I'm still breaking it in (currently at 230 miles); only getting 17mpg average; about 80% city/stop-n-go, 20% freeway at 70mph max.

I'm hoping after 1,000 miles, I'll have a chance to see better milage.

On one freeway jaunt, I did see 23mpg over a 5 mile drive.

I'm slated to go to Infineon Raceway on 7/18 for the "A4 Driving Experience" so I'll be able to check out the new drive select but the "feel" of the A4 v.s. the A5 should be about the same otherwise. I'll have a lot of freeway miles at that point to see if I can get into the 30's.

Default My bad

Found out that work is ~400 feet higher than my home freeway exit.

Going to work my mileage plummets to . . . 31 MPG. Looks like I'll be getting ~31 MPG average during the weekdays. Bummer

I'll look into the calibration issue. Since I've been shifting gears on the freeway to vary the revs, my tank mileage is poor. However, I did the fill-the-tank/miles calculation and it came out very close to the trip computer.

I'm at ~700 miles right now. After I hit 1000 I'll stop trying to vary the revs and then do a full-tank calculation.
