Interesting MPG Comparison

I track all my fuel purchases on an Excel spreadsheet. I have done this on my '06 & '08 A4's and now on the '10 A6. At the same total miles the 2 A4s were .3 mpg less than the A6 is now (22.3 vs 22.6 for the A6). I only have 1,800 mlies on the A6, so things may change. I record for each purchase the miles on the car and the # of gallons and the total purchase cost. The spreadsheet calculates miles-since-last-fill-up, mpg-since-last-fill-up and cost-per-gallon. Then these three factors are calculated over the life of the vehicle (from the first fill-up until current). It is interesting to see how fill-up to fill-up variations occur. Always, the higher mpg's are related to a trip I took. I have a field for name and location of the gas station so when I look back I can say "that was on the waa to Albany" or whatever.
