I read that article a few days ago. Interesting to read how Audi continues to close the gap or in this comparison pass BMW. I'm sure BMW has taken notice. The result should be continued improvements from both brands (plus M-B).
I have always been a BMW guy and have owned several (5 & 3 series). Starting with my wife's former Q7, I have been really impressed with the product mix. Is there still room for improvement, yes. But this can be said about most vehicles.

What is particularly interesting in this comp, is how Audi underrates its HP/Torque and BMW overrates theirs.
Also, how this car guy is blown away by this beast S8!

In fairness, Alpina is an aftermarket tuner, not BMW. Stock BMW engines are known for being underrated too (case in point: N20).
