Leftover 2010 A5
Hi,
I was originally looking for a used A5 but a leftover 2010 caught my interest at a local dealer. It's pretty stripped, just a 2.0 Premium with bluetooth and heated seats but if I can snag a great deal, I'd be content with losing a few features. MSRP is $39,375 and according to Edmunds, invoice is $36,775 and there is a $4000 manufacturer's incentive as well. My question is, what is a good starting point for negotiations? I am aware many of 2011's are already going for invoice. How much below invoice plus the incentive should I offer on this 2010?
This would be my first Audi. Thanks for your help.
BTW I'm also looking at a used 08 A5, pretty much loaded with Nav, Advanced Key, Bang and Olufson, etc. MSRP was $50,000 and now it's being offered at $35,000 with 35,000 miles. Any thoughts? Thank you!

i dont know about what you should offer... but if you can get the 2010 for anything near the 08 price, id personally go with the 2010.. longer warranty, no miles, and you dont have to worry about if someone beat the hell out of it. i guess it depends on if the options are important to you. personally for like navigation my phone is much better than the audi navi xD the only thing i would personally miss is the B&O system, i love it in my S.

I hate to say it but he really doesn't have any leverage. The A5/S5 is not a common car, especially a left over 2010. The only leverage he has is that it is a bare bones car.

he's got some leverage. If you can work to invoice, or $500 over, then get the rebate, do it. Common or not, there are still quite a few 2010's to be had out there, and that's what matters.
the dealer is going to try to use the rebate as your discount--tell them that's the Manufacturer's dime. Everyday, they're losing money (value) on having that car sit there-- that's why there's a rebate.

I think it may also depend on where you are.
The fact that there are minimal options on the car should give you an edge on negotiating. It's pretty hard to find a manual S-Line model for example, but there are a good amount of 2010s coming off 1 year leases.
Also important - is this a certified Audi dealer? is it a CPO car? if so, you can expect to spend $2,500 - $3,000 more for the car, but get the warranty up to 100,000 miles.
Also - you can't get the 3.2L engine in the 2010. In my mind the features (Nav, B&O, tech package, bells and whistles) make these audis really shine.
IMHO: 3.2 L, NAV, Tech, etc. with 100,000 mile warranty? sounds pretty great.
On the other hand: $35,000 for a loaded 35,000 mile 2008? sounds prety low; would make me nervous.

I just took delivery of a new 2010 A5 3.2 Prestige. ibis white with Cinnamon brown Milano leather. I got $6,000 off of sticker. I couldn't be happier. The 3.2 is plenty fast enough. I find myself putting it in Sport mode when I am at a light and then going into drive at 30 or 40 mph. I am on thE highway a lot and routinely average 30 mpg. The 2010 MMI is well worth it.
