Mail from Audi
So, having my S5 on order since mid december (Tiptronic), and patiently waiting for news of a build date, Audi of America sends me a congratulatory card with a note inside teasing me about how soon I'll be running around in my 354hp car.
Well my choice of words are not so good above, because of course there is no specific word on 'HOW SOON'?
Anyone else get this card - is it indicative of anything?
Did Audi just put me on notice?

At least Audi know we exist... popped into Audi Forum on Park Avenue...
So I popped into the Audi Forum showroom on Park Avenue in NYC when I was in town. Asked them what the heck is going on with delivery times. Said that allocations are going to the biggest dealers, however that doesn't explain much as my dealer is a reasonable size (but nothing huge). They were not aware of any particular reasons for delays in terms of engines, sunroofs etc. So I sit here just as annoyed by this mailing as everyone else given my Oct 4th order is now at earliest a May delivery (and even then, no certainty).
The Audi cars in the Park Avenue showroom are simply works of art. Any thoughts that I would give up on waiting for my S5 were thrown out the window I have to say, although there is a limit to my patience with summer coming.
There was a white S8 with amazing red interior. The R8 was moved onto the revolving platform and had taken the place of the S5 that was there a while back (no S5 remains in the showroom, ironically), and some dude asked what delivery was on the R8 and the guy I was talking to about my issues said smuggly "two years" :-)
And there was a brand new RS4 cabriolet. Have to say the new RS4 cab is the "dog's bollocks"! Just amazing looking in person and would be a blast to have the roof down in summer and listen to the sound of that engine with the wind in your hair.......
I personally think it's very unfair to allocate to big dealers if someone has an order in the system months before others. Audi need to improve their customer service and manage customer expectations better if they are to keep their momentum going. If they can't even give us a month of delivery what does that say about their managerial ability.
