Default MMI Media Album Covers

So, still finding out all new stuff in the my '13 S5, and one of the things bugging me is that I cannot figure out how to get the album covers to show on the MMI from my iPod. Did the requisite searching and couldn't find anything. Anyone have any thoughts/input? Thanks! - M

I'll have to dig and see if I have the red cable in the glove box. The dealer just grabbed my iPod and plugged it in for me and I never thought about it otherwise.

The Audi provided cable in the US is NOT the red cable.

Go to your dealer and ask for 4F0051510R

that's the cable. Byers Imports has it on ebay for 71 dollars which is the internal cost. My local dealer matched that price.

I don't have my cable yet. It's suppose to show video and podcasts from what I've read. Have you tried that? Is it music videos? Movies? It probably turns the video off when moving.

I have read about the "R" part or Red cable as it has been nick-named after the red grommet it has. However, it is compatible with less apple devices (see info below) and is not compatible with all car models/mmi.

I keep an ipod classic (7th gen, 160gb) in my car and it is not compatible with the red cable apparently.

Do not take the info below as 100% accurate:
The red cable is for these ipods/ipads/iphones only in combination with MMI3G+:

iPod Nano 5G with SW 1.0.2 and above
iPod Nano 6G with SW 1.0.0 and above (no video support)
iPod Touch 1G with SW 3.0.0 and above
iPod Touch 2G with SW 3.0.0 and above
iPod Touch 3G with SW 3.0.0 and above
iPod Touch 4G with SW 4.0.0 and above
iPhone 1G with SW 3.0.0 and above
iPhone 3G with SW 3.0.0 and above
iPhone 3GS with SW 3.0.0 and above
iPhone 4G with SW 4.0.0 and above
iPad with SW 4.2.1 and above

The information given by Audi was pretty sketchy. Too bad they wont let you try it. You buy it, you keep it. We were finding that the Audi's parts information was saying that a TOUCH wasn't compatible (by omission from the list). You can try it then put it on ebay if it doesn't work. Someone will buy it.

Add the iPhone 4S and not the iPhone 5 nor iPad 4 ( with lightning adapter).
