The performance numbers quoted in the article are very disappointing!
A 0-60 mph time of 4.6s isn't noticeably quicker than the S5 6MT (4.9s). The torque numbers are slightly lower than an S5.
For an additional 96 HP the RS5 barely shows a performance increase over the S5. A Challenger Edition Stasis S5 can match those 0-60 mph numbers. Hell, if you modded an S5 with lightweight wheels, an aftermarket exhaust, and an ECU upgrade you could probably get an additional 0.2s to 0.3s of performance.

well the conversion is exactly how it works; and someone correct me if i'm wrong, but car prices US. vs. Europe aren't exactly apples-to-apples...
One of the major differences in US pricing and European pricing is that US pricing is typically a pre-tax price, and Europe is "European Union Value Added Tax" ("EU VAT") post pricing; and I believe the VAT can run between 15-25%, depending on country.
Someone from the sunrise side of the pond could probably jump in an provide us some more details...

after thinking about it for a bit, they didn't say that "it is not coming to the US," they simply said "they have no plans to bring it to the US..."
...meaning, they haven't ruled it out....yet?
Clever......

I don't believe it's going to cost $105K. They got to that number by taking the price quoted in Euros (77K) and converting it to $ at today’s exchange rate but that’s not how it works. For example, the base S5 price in Germany, in Euros, is 58,150. Converting that to $ at today’s exchange rate would make you think that the US base price for the same car is a little over $79K but we know that the base MSRP in the US is $52,400. That approx 33% less than the German Euro price convert to $. So, if we apply the same % reduction to the RS quoted price, it will come in with a base price of around $70K or so. Depending on the options, you could probably walk out the door for about $80K all said and done.
As always, you mileage may vary, not legal in all states, void where prohibited, ect, ect, ect.

i hope youre right about that price...$105,000 would be utterly ridiculous. my jaw dropped when i heard that price...this cars amazing and all, but for $105,000 there are MUCH better cars to choose from IMO, including audi's own R8.
70k would be acceptable.

The time quote for the S5 is 0 - 62 mph as well. That goes without saying, its always understood 0 - 100 kph equates to 0 - 62mph. The point is the RS5 numbers quoted make it only 0.3s faster than an S5.

Correct on the EU VAT issue, which in Germany is 16%. MSRP in Europe is always quoted including EU VAT whereas in the US, pricing is quoted excluding sales tax... $70k base seems a reasonable assumption.

The car would not be $105K. An easy way to estimate the price is to look at the base price of an S5 in Euros. Then calculate the ratio of RS5 base price to S5 base price in Euros. To calculate the equivalent U.S. price multiply the U.S. base price by the ratio number. If you do the math the equivalent U.S. base price works out to about $70,600.

Like, much more sporting cars, you mean, and I can't think of too many sporting cards at $105K price that would be better. You are getting into 911 price at that point but overall I'd still like the RS5 more, but the the carerra would probably handle better.
