Default Its S5 territory...and heavily discounted M3 territory...they are still more than 60, but my loaded

S5 was going to be $62,910...but then again $2100 of his price is the warranty so a $5K difference...but that is a very pricey Audi.

Default Well it is optioned out for the most part...

The equivalent S5 loaded out the same would be right about $61,100 with destination.

So about a $6,300 difference...ah why the heck did I start looking so closely at the numbers?!?!?!?! &@^#&@^

S5 = higher gas costs and insurance

But 90 more HP and Magma Red Leather...d'oh! I don't want to wait another year

Default Not when you're buying a car. That would get you a nice 335i and an E36 M3 track car.

You could even get a nice used Noble for that money.

Then again, people don't buy Audis for their driving attributes.

Default Does that change the fact that it has better dynamics than a sixty thousand dollar A5?

BTW, that hot rod A5 will be worth about $40,000 this time next year. Pretty wise financial decision, eh?

Default It sure doesn't, but you pay a price for exclusivity sometimes...

I don't want to be just another guy leasing a 335i...plus the interior fit/finish of the Audi and the exterior styling are far beyond that of the BMW.

And to your comment about finances -- no car purchase is a wise financial decision, unless you get your hands on a real classic.

No one would be on this board if we were making wise financial decisions about what we drove. We would all be @ the Honda/Toyota forums, lol

Default I guess you're a form before function guy. At least you'll admit it.

You're A-OK in my book.

Default Mr. President, I beg to differ on your "form before function" comment...

...as I have Drive Select on my 2009 S5. You really don't know of what you speak...but then again, you are talking about the A5.

On the newest S5 (and the new A4 will have it)... The Drive Select--Dynamic setting changes the steering feel, the steering ratio and the suspension in an integrated fashion and such a dramatic way, it gives all of the feel and handling of any BMW I have ever driven.

And as a person who has recently owned two BMWs for several years, driving them on road and on track, I know what I am talking about.

You really should try to get your hands on a 2009 with Drive Select. Audi has finally addressed and put to rest the "disconnected-from-the-road-steering-feel" that has been the main criticism of this new S5 in 2008.

I could not believe the difference in feel.

Default I respect your opinion, Mr. CNVRT. I have owned eight BMWs, two S4s and have driven many models from

both manufacturers. In my humble opinion, the A5/S5 feels like a pig compared to the E92. I have not driven an S-Drive, however I don't think that will change my opinion. I detest all-wheel-drive, even though I've made a concession with my fleet.

That said, I wouldn't buy another BMW, nor would I buy another Audi. I presently have a Lotus Exige S and Porsche 993 Turbo. Both of those are much more visceral cars than BMW or Audi produce and no amount of electronics will bring modern cars to the levels of involvement those two command.
