Waited for the M3 but I'm just not feeling it, the outside is a little too loud and the inside...well, the inside just lets the whole car down.
I'm living in Germany and starting to see lots of A5 and a few S5 passing me on the autobahn and every time I see one, I'm taken by how hot it looks and I don't think I've ever seen a better interior so it's quickly moving to the top of my alternate list.
So, I'm wondering what an S5 is like to live with day to day. What kind of mileage are you guys seeing? Any problems being reported?
Thanks
Mike

I'm still awaiting the delivery of my S5, but I've done extensive research on this subject through articles and video reviews.
The M3 bests the S5 on a strictly numerical basis with slightly faster 0-60 and slalom times.
However, as a real world car I think the S5 is the better choice.
40/60 Quattro drive will give you great handling but also let you feel confident in the snow and rain. [I love hearing from BMW owners how their traction control works for them]
Computer modulation doesn't change real world physics. Where I live in fairly hilly and I have to be able to go up and down those hills in snow.
My four prior cars were all E-class mercedes with 4Matic. I've since abandoned Mercedes as the last car was a total piece of junk. [It was spawned during the Merc/Chrysler Merger - and was essentially a Chrysler 300 with a Merc engine. - No Thank you.]
The Audi is also bigger. I'm 6'3" and the M3 seems really diminutive to me.
Go to youtube.com and do a search for "top gear audi s5" you will find BMW comparison videos.

I don't know what it is but while Germany has lots of fast cars, it's always an Audi screaming up behind me!
I guess pick up day was a cold one in Ingolstade!

Ya, I'm almost there but I'm wondering if I can live with the milage, I'm not so hung up on the price of gas or the MPG, it's like blood, you've got to have it but my problem is the size of the tank. On a long, fast, trip, I'm thinking I'll need a gas station every hour and a half.

Thanks for sharing your opinion. I live in Stuttgart so it's Merc's morning, noon, and night. I think the quality is getting better and anyone looking to build an auto museum should ask Mercedes as what they build here is just amazing.
Audi build their RS model's an hour up the A6 so I need to get up for a tour.
