City mileage is a little worse on the 6MT.

For 2010, $1,300 gas guzzler fee for manual ends up costing $100.00 more than the $1,200 charge for the automatic.

For 2009, the auto cost $1,300 more and they offset exactly.

the 6MT gets 14/21 mpg and the 6AT 16/24. Good old fed govt standards makes the average MPG just above the cut off for the AT.

Part of the reason I went with the AT

It is very very easy to tank your city mileage with a manual. Manual drivers naturally want to push the revs into the powerband before upshifting but this can waste a lot of gas with constant stop-and-go traffic. There is also a lot less upshifting in general due to driver fatigue whereas the auto will upshift no matter how brief or how often.

It won't affect your gas guzzler tax but you can take some solace in knowing that you can exceed the official EPA city estimate by upshifting early and accelerating slowly in stop-and-go traffic.

Or the reverse if you want to guzzle in the AT
