I see your point. Yes, that was a bit heavy-handed.

Default awesome...

Bob,
Great response.

I'll tell you why I've been so against convertibles lately.

I have several friends looking to buy cars at the moment and for some reason [probably it's summer] they're all thinking of getting convertibles.

You're right, I am on an anti-'vert trip right now and it's because I know my friends are spending hard earned money and not disposable income.

I also know the road quality around here is SO poor as to almost necessitates an SUV.
[No, I'm not joking]

New York City and New Jersey roads are in complete disarray.

There are stretches of highway and or road where there isn't a single even surface.

AND via the discussion, I've learned a few things about why people buy convertibles and admitted that if I lived in SoCal, I would probably want one too...

But, I thank you for being a gracious person and being part of my learning...

Default The old W124 series was a great car. Built to a standard, not a price. Mercedes fell apart after

that. When I sold cars, I took in several S class Mercedes on trade. They had problems with seals, and everything leaked.

Have to say James May is my favourite of Top Gear. I may not agree always with his choices, but he's utterly consistent and I feel like he makes those choices based on his genuine preference rather than what might appeal or provoke the audience the most.

Default Oh I don't have all the cars in my poster! Just the RS4, Ferrari, a gaggle of Alfas, a truck, etc.

But I would utterly KILL to have an Isdera Imperator 108i and Alfa ES30 Zagato :-D

I am lucky to have friends with a variety of cars who trust me with the keys. It's fun and interesting to contrast the character of the models.

Default "just"

LOL. It's great you can enjoy 'just' a few of the best cars.
That's awesome.

Having rid myself of the last of the Mercs,
the S5, when it arrives, will be the first car I'm actually buying.

I hope to add the Alfa Romeo 159 TI [Q4] after that....

Should be more than enough for a bachelor. LOL.
