So When can I start placing an order on this new S5?

Audi US model yr labeling has done this before : the B7 A4/S4 had TWO model year 2005's the carryover small grill " 2005 " that debuted late summer 2004 , then the mid year facelift big grill " 2005.5 " that appeared in January 2005 , which confuses the heck out of people unfamiliar with the model.

I suspect this ROW " 2012 " facelift will come here as an early and extended " 2013 " 18-month long run after the first of the yr. So the US 2012 model yr ( carryover ) will be a short 6 month run.

I like it. Would love to see Deep Sea Blue Pearl Effect return for the refresh!

The press release indicates that a detuned supercharged V6 with 272 hp and S-tronic will be available for the A5. I wonder if this holds for the US, or if it's only ROW.

I'd have to think it would partially canabilize the S5 V8. I imagine a lot of people would jump at a less expensive A5 with the SC V6 (tunable, S-Tronic, better MPG, etc).

If they do offer it here, pretty much assures the S5 will keep the V8, right?

The Audi Germany site shows the 2012 A5 will have the facelift but unfortunately the US site hasn't been updated yet. Anyone know if the US model will be updated too? Doesn't make sense that they would just do the facelift for the European model but no the NA model...

I saw on Audi USA's Twitter, they were showing pics of the updated A5/S5, but were labeling it as 2013.

The release also says this:

The Audi S5
The top models in the series – the S5 as Sportback, Coupé and Cabriolet – have also been refreshed. All S5 models, including the Coupé, are now equipped with the 3.0 TFSI producing 245 kW (333 hp).
