Default Ordering S5 manual tranny next wk--DC area--What's a reasonable deposit??...

...dealers asking $5K or $6K and MSRP. Don't want dealer to hold my $$$ for up to 6 months and get nothing...Also, I know of high demand, but any small deals in DC area, like $500 off maybe?

Default Say hell no, reasonable is $500-$1000. Walk away and say I'll find another dealer.

You aren't getting the car anytime soon, likely, if you order now, you are getting an '09 model. With that said, why would you give anybody a loan of $5K for a car you won't have for nearly 6-9 months.

Default What D.C. dealer is asking $5K? - I ordered from Rockville in October and...

picked up in December. I put in a $1,000 deposit back in October.

DO NOT put down $5K and do not sign any document that says your deposit is non-refundable (that is unenforceable and illegal in Maryland).

There are many dealers in the area, Rockville by far does the most volume and as such gets the largest and earliest allocations from Audi. I was very satisfied with their service.

I paid MSRP.

Default $1500 north of the border

$1500 north of the border - A5. But I think he may have taken less if I asked.

I heard some asking for $3k for orders -- but $5/6k seems a little high.

I ordered S5 automatic this morning in Philly. Paid MSRP. They asked for $2500 down. Didn't matter to me. I asked about getting hung up and what are my options. Invoice states refundable deposit. Now, if you really want control, put it on American Express. Their dispute resoluton process is incredible and you get the points. Puts you in control of situation.
I'm being told that next big update on build dates is 3/3. We will see. They took me through the entire dealer website to show me the process of order input expected builds and deliveries, etc. Estimate late Jun/ early July delivery. But the only caution I got was don't be surprised if we call you an it's EARLIER.
So, we will see.
