Default Thanks DaveLew. I'll check Rockville. I spoke w Audi of Alexandria...

they "required 10 percent or between $5K and $6k;" Then spoke with guy from HBL of Tysons, said they "required $5K." Both said deposit amount was "Non-refundable" when I spoke to them.

Default Thanks. I think autos are moving faster than manuals...

...so you just may see it earlier. That time frame is consistent with what I am hearing here.

I actually put down $5000 here in Northern california. I figured maybe they might think Im more serious about wanting the car. At the time the dealer asked for $5k, I hadnt found these forums yet and had no idea what a reasonable deposit would be. I dont really give a rats **** if they lock up $5k for 5 months, since it's a piddling amount of interest lost. I ordered a tip, so with luck, it wont take forever to arrive. Im thinking July Aug, even though Ive been promised early May (which means nothing since I dont even have a commission number.)

Default $500 deposit

car ordered for sale at MSRP. I don't participate in sale of a vehicle over MSRP. I will buy something else first.

Default I also ordered from Rockville

I put down $2500 in Sept07 took delivery in Dec2007. I signed their document but I did know that the document was unenforceable in MD so I figured it was easier to sign then argue upfront.

The guy I ordered from was great but is no longer working there. The Audi Sales manager is easy going and honest. His name is Steve Prescott.

Default I bought from Dylan French - who is no longer there, the general sales manager is

Steve Prescott and the overall general manager is Steven ??? (forgot his last name, but he sits in the corner office on the Audi side of the dealership / other side is Porsche)

They are honest in Rockville.

As an FYI...your deposit is only non-refundable if you ask for a custom color (or the like), and even then it is refundable until the car is delivered. When you make the deposit, simply cross out any lines of the deposit agreement that say it is non-refundable and initial it...they know it is not enforceable and wont push back.
