I just got a quote for the HRE 790R wheels at $7980. If I recall correctly the DPE wheels were about $3800. Are the HRE's that much better?
On a side note, how much lighter are your Stoptech brakes compared to stock?

received a similar quote on DPEs, around $3800. Asked myself the same question...what do you get for nearly double the price, when both are excellent manufacturers.

The fasteners were nice and are either stainless steel as opposed to chromed steel. The lips on my wheels were finished to match the 'S' mirrors but the difference that I noticed is that they clearcoat the lips. By clearcoating the lips, maintenance and upkeep simply involves wiping them down with a damp cloth between washings.
They told me 4 weeks from order to delivery and provided me with a completion date. I received my wheels on the day by special courier.
Regarding the weight of the Stoptech Brakes: The aluminum hat of the Stoptech discs and lighter weight of the calipers was fairly substantial. I actually weighed them but I'll need to search for the old post to get the exact figures.

I've ordered plenty of sets of HREs before through Lucent Motorsports and AutoTalent...the wheels were never delivered on time...quickest turnaround was 6 weeks.
Great wheels, but not so attractive pricing + turnaround for me. They are totally exploiting brand recognition and charging an extra arm and leg...it's like buying a $300 t-shirt.

and they deliver on time. It is more like buying a $250 pair of jeans, that actually fit like a glove.

I'm going with 19" wheels for the S5. I have 20" on the R8 with 20 profile tires in the front. The sidewall is so short it's scary.

have a very low profile that I'd like to change. I plan to update the size soon as well. Will probably go 295/25 all the way around for a slightly taller sidewall, but 275/30 will provide an even better ride. Just as with the wheels, I want to keep the weight down if possible.
What are you doing with that sweet APR R8 when your new R8 comes in?
