Fair enough. Afterall, you are the consumer.

Why don't you call them out and ask them directly about the extra $426 ? And please let us know what their answer is.

I did....and they told me that they don't have the invoice yet. They said they'll show me the invoice when they get it. I'm just wondering if they're trying to screw me and will show me a phony invoice; hence the title of this thread.

Ask them to break down the fees. $500 or so doesn't sound out of line for the advertising fee and other fees but it's always nice to have complete information.

2011 A5 Premium Plus, 6-speed manual transmission
Quartz Gray
Sport Package
Navigation Package
MSRP $45950.00
Invoice $42797.00

My dealer lists the same MSRP of $45950.00, but claims the invoice price on the car is $43223.00

Is the invoice pricing I found online wrong or are they trying to get more money out of me?

Did you factor in the destination charge?

Okay, I guess you guys just aren't understanding what I'm saying....

So I'll say it one more time:

The dealer gave me an INVOICE price that is higher than the INVOICE prices that I've found online. This has NOTHING to do with fees, as they are all ITEMIZED on my purchase agreement. In other words, the fees are there but THEY ARE NOT included in the INVOICE price of the car.

I don't know why this is so difficult to comprehend.

Sorry for coming across as harsh, but I'm just asking a simple question and trying to get a simple answer. Are the invoice prices I found online accurate? Or is the dealer full of crap with his invoice prices?

They put that number as the "invoice" price on the purchase agreement paperwork. And since I agreed to pay them $600 over invoice, they added the $600 to the $43223, for a total of $43823 as the purchase price of the car.

This has nothing to do with the destination charge. That is listed separately on the paperwork.

Once again-- I'm only discussing the price of the car itself, not any other associated fees or charges.

I would recommend printing out the invoice of your configured vehicle from several websites and bringing it to the dealer when you are negotiating. No one here can provide a satisfactory answer for you, so you will need to force the dealer to try to explain the discrepancy.

Then do what JD15 said and give the dealership your print out and ask them why the difference. They can't just pull that number out of the thin air, and if the number is based on something, then they can give you a breakdown on how they arrived at that estimate.
