Hell yeah! Are you serious? I thought SACDs didn't work! That made no sense with a surround system, so I'm psyched if this isn't just a freak thing.

It encodes both "stereo" and "5.1 Surround" on 2 distinct layers. If surround doesnt play (not compatibile with the CD player), it defaults to playing the "stereo" mode. The B&O DSP can then up-convert that into 7.1 surround (it has to convert 5.1 channels to 7.1 channels anyways --but a high quality DSP probably wont make it sound very different to most ears than the encoded 5.1 surround on the SACD layer).
Maybe that happened?
Sexy music though -- cant wait to listen to all my Floyd on the B&O.
If only I could blink and 3 months went by....

'great gig' is my "turn it up to 11" cut off that album.. is 'money' in quadraphonic-equivalent space with the 5.1?
dsotm has been my benchmark cd for years now - it's a shame modern music has stepped all over the cd's dynamic range..
gahh you're killing me, only 4 more months for me! well, anywhere between 4 and 40, i think..

so far all of the audio file formats supported by personal audio devices are limited to 2-channel audio. There are extensions to WAV (RF64/BWF) that address multichannel support, but so far usage of that file format seems limited to broadcast applications.
