NO, there are no right-of-recission laws on auto leases. You're giving out incorrect advice.

this is 2010, not 2002. Who cares what was done, or how it was done, 8 years ago?

And, on auto leases, you make your payments up front- at the begininng of each period. So even in your (misguided) suggestion, he could not do it anyways, since he made his first payment at the time of signing the lease.

the only possible way to do it is to talk to the dealer and the leasing company about switching into another car at the same dealership. You'll still would probably have to pay for some depreciation of the car, plus most likely, some penalty costs. In this situation, OP saw the car at a neighboring dealer. Don't think it's going to happen.

I have been reading that sales tax is calculated on a monthly basis for leases. So, on a 36 month lease if you turn a car in after 6 months, then you are due 30/36 of whatever taxes you paid. Is that true?

I talked to the dealer today. They have the identical car with Quartz Grey. They will trade out cars for $3800 and $10/mo increase on monthly lease rate.

These 5's are holding their value quite well then! Either that, or they totally burned you with an exorbinant market money factor on the first deal so they can easily bump your payment up by "only $10" and still make a reasonable profit on the new deal.

Heck, there is just over $3800 spread between invoice and MSRP. Why would they offer you so much for a used car??

To OP: It was my friend's second new car at that dealer. He put just over 300 miles on it. It came with over 50 miles as I remember. The car he switched to was another available car in the lot. He came in, talked to them and 2 days later or so, he stopped by with his new color car lol. Anyways, since it costs so much to switch in your case. Just keep what you have. All my cars are in black. It's a pain in the butt to keep it clean but I don't mind having them a bit dirty (I do try to wash them down once every 2 weeks or so). Guess what though? Everytime I drive my clean car to places, people stare and aww... friends asking whether it' my new car lol. I do love Black cars.
