Default relocate Ipod Cable

Hey Guys,

I am new to this forum. I just got my car today.

I love the car but one thing that bothers me is the location of my MMI ipod cable. I use my iphone and I hate having to have it sit in the glove box when I want to listen to music. I use my phone a lot for work and I constantly have to check it. Has anyone come up with a way to relocate the wire to the center console area? I thought about buying an adaptor but I hate having a wire hang out of my glove box.

I'd love to hear everyones suggestions. Thanks

+1 on this. It is pretty much useless in the glove box.

I think the ipod interface in the glove compartment is better used for a dedicated ipod that just plays music, not iphone. This way you can just leave it there like a permanent jukebox. If you use iphone, the only option is use bluetooth. I believe Audi sells the bluetooth interface that can allow the iphone to play music wirelessly on your car speakers. (http://audi-collection.com/itemdy00....ubLevel=&lcat=). A little pricey but whatever.

You would just need a dock extension cable. There are various ones out there in miscellaneous lengths, however, be sure that your version of iPhone is supported on whichever cable you buy or you could end up with an older/newer cable than what you need that will not charge your phone.

For example:

I think that Bluetooth adapter does not work with the 3G MMI. The better option would be to get a dock extension cable (as td80 mentioned) or get the AUX MMI cable and run a 3.5" cable out from the glove box and route it to wherever you want.

That's why I plan to just use SD cards.

I may go ahead and get an extension cable to just to relieve one of my biggest annoyances with the MMI -- it charges the iPod while the MMI and the car aren't powered up. Not a big deal most of the time, probably, but it's so inconvenient to unplug given the glovebox location that I basically don't ever use the iPod interface at all. Odd design.
