I'm not sure if it was a weight thing, or De Silva didn't really want to mess up the lines but I rode around in friends S550 , and noticed the sunroof does slide back, it's also panoramic , it slides outside the car. What it does is tilt forward when it's slid back, so, it doesn't have the air currents going under it trying to lift it up, actually, it's kind of like a spoiler so it would actually get pushed down when it's slid back outside the car.

S5 could have done this. But of course, it still doesn't look pretty when you see it driving down the street , if it were like that.
