Default RS5, nice comparo vs. M3

I suspect some of viewed this video before but nice comparison vs. the M3. In the end close enough to call it a draw. However the 3:30 mark, yes the RS5 can fly...

You're welcome.

I am having a difficult time deciding on my next car purchase. I love the styling of the S5/RS5 but the M3 has always held a special spot on my "must have" list. From a DD point-of-view, the S5 would make the most sense. Emotionally it would be the RS5 or M3. I just don't like paying MSRP for a vehicle. Either way all three are great vehicles.

Good comparison. The RS5 is very late to the game and doesn't really come out on top of the almost 5 year old M3. It sounds like it matches performance on paper but the driving experience is lacking in comparison. Can't wait to see what the 2014 M3 can do.

It's late in-terms of being released to the states but has been available over in Europe and the UK. I suspect the next gen M3/4 will raise the bar but reset again by the next Sx/RSx.

I have always liked the M cars and perhaps will own an M3 coupe. However I do fully respect Audi and the S/RS offerings. For the average driver, I believe more performance can be extracted out of Audi due to the advantage of AWD and torque vectoring. The M is a bit more pure.

Does the M3 have better steering and lighter weight?...Yes
But let's see a comparison on a wet track, test drive an M3 and feel the DSC
cut in and leave you dead in your tracks or drive with DSC off and deal with the
rear wheels loosing traction, it's not as safe on public roads as an Audi period.
Now that I have an Audi I am learning to appreciate drama free driving.

PB9, there can be arguments made in favor of the M3 and RS5. Is there an advantage to having AWD on less than ideal roads, yes. I guess depending on were you live perhaps this is a factor or not.

The RS5 would be the easiest to drive fast. However, some drivers want the challenge of "driving" the car. This is were the M3 would shine. Thankfully as owners or potential buyers we have a choice.
