Default RS5 Production Numbers

Does anyone know how many RS5's will be produced this year? I just put down a deposit for an RS5 last week. My dealership received one allocation, and I took it. Now I sit back and wait, AGAIN. It was a 16 month wait for the S5 and a 14 month wait for the R8. I'm not sure I fully understand the reasoning for keeping production rates so low when the demand is there.

I put in an order for an 2013 RS5 in mid September. Last week dealer says "...is in the Audi order bank, but no production date yet..." My 2012S5 took about 12 weeks from order to delivery last year.

I have read that a total of 1500 RS5's will be delivered to the states. Of that amount, I don't know how many have been delivered in the MY12 production year.

IMO, the number number is to allow Audi to test the market and build-up a following.

mhblaw, sounds like your dealer doesn't have an allocation. If it remains in this status, you may want to call around. There is a dealer would routinely posts in AZ under the RS5 forum as to which dealers have allocation.

We did try "calling around", but dealers within a reasonable distance were not willing to let go of a "hot car". So my dealer says, "lets order one and see what happens". Not that I am unhappy with the S5, just would like more!

True. Drove the S5 to Seattle and back over Labor Day. Wife kept asking me to slow down...Great drive through the mountains in MT, ID and WA, even on I-90.

I bought mine off the showroom floor back in July the first week they arrived in the states. No waiting at all! Mine was an impluse purchase really as I've been waiting for the new R8 model with S-tronic, and this car became available. I have really enjoyed it but will probably sell/trade in the near future before the new car arrives.
