Default Is it visible? If so, and if the scratches are at all deep, I think repainting is your only option.

If they aren't visible, I wouldn't worry about it. I don't think the bumper pieces are made of anything that will rust, so it shouldn't create any huge problem.

Default No it's not visible, it's just irking the $..t out of me. I wonder if they can repaint underneath?

It's minor, but just irks me that I did that, I thought I was going slow enough , guess, not ... I'll post a pic.

Default Don't bother...you'll do it a million times in the course of owning the car.

It's unavoidable sadly.

So, what do you guys think, the scratches are white cause they are fresh. They are maybe 1 millimeter deep.

Default I've done the same. It isn't worth spending money on since it will unavoidably happen again.

Only thing I would suggest is to clean the scratches out and use some compound or wax just so that they aren't visible except on close inspection.

Default I was so mad at myself, less than 2 weeks!!! Atleast it's underneath, ok, will wax it. I'm tempte

d , to replace the bumper,<- that's just my angry voice talking, but I know a replacement is never as good as the original fit and finish.

Ok, wax it is.

Default No, use compound. Wax will not take the white out.

Get this stuff or something like it (you may need something that is a bit more abrasive).

<im g src="http://s7d4.scene7.com/is/image/GriotsGarage/11165?$detail$">

Also, since it's on the underside (a low-visibility area that is going to get pelted by road debris anyway), consider covering it/filling it in with a rattle can from these guys Paintscratch.com.

Default Ahhh ... cool, I will try this, quick question?

Is the rattle can, the pen paint brush???? Or is it literally a spray or the one that you brush on. I was looking at the website. And also, should I use clay too, or just the polish????

Thanks.

Default The spray can.

For small panels, and especially the underside where you won't really be able to see, this kind of rattle can is actually a fair solution. If you were so inclined, you could wet-sand between coats and get a finish that is nearly flawless. Don't forget the clear.

Don't bother with clay for this (though you will want it eventually) - the polish will remove most of the debris in the paint.

Get some paint prep solution, though - something to remove all wax/oil/contaminants from the paint.

Finally, remember that this area is both prone to scraping again, and is going to get sandblasted by road debris... so allow yourself to relax a little bit about the paint in this area.
