S5 grille on an A5 advice

It is a direct replacement but AFAIK you will also need to buy an S5 plate filler / plate mount, since the vertical slats on the S5 grille are different from those on the A5 grille (and therefore your current A5 plate filler/mount won't fit on an S5 grille).
Keep in mind that if you remove the S5 badge from the S5 grille, you'll have a hole there. The chrome vertical slat breaks just for the badge. You will have to find another badge to put in its place.
The opposite is actually very common; ie many S5 folks have opted to put A5 grilles on their cars either because they don't like the chrome vertical slats, they prefer a cleaner badgeless look, or they prefer a gloss black grille over platinum gray one.

Correct. S5 has the platinum gray with chrome strips.
