Default S5 Mirror Upgrade for A5

Just installed these last night. I followed the directions from this thread

http://www.a5oc.com/forums/showthrea...x.html?p=27057

But it wasn't correct. Its a British post so either they've changed the mirrors for 2010 - or US mirrors are different. Mine had more screws and tabs to remove. Not a difficult install, but very stressful. Lots of pulling, snapping crunching of plastic and tabs - one wrong pull and a tab snaps and you're screwed. The LED lights are really flimsy so be careful not to snap them in half. Also, prying out the mirror is scary!

If anyone wants to try this - PM me for detailed pics.

They are factory Audi factory parts - any dealer has them. I'll give you the part numbers tonight.

since my car has the brushed windshield frame, I'd love to have the matching mirror housings. I asked my sales rep to ask about the cost of changing them but he never did it. I imagine it would be costly to have the dealership do it and supply the parts.

Thats EXACTLY why I got them. They match the windshield frame so well - the whole thing looks like one solid piece. The parts I think are $650 retail (I get them wholesale for $540)

The labor - if you want to try it - I can walk you through it. Its fairly simple. if you wanted to have the dealer install them - they shouldn't charge you more than half an hour of labor (if they're honest) which should run you about $75

Looks nice. I can't imagine they would be that difficult to install.

Your neighbor's hedges across the street look like they could use a trim though...

Yeah, sounds steep - but considering they are factory parts and real aluminum (at least plated) wasn't such a bad deal I think.

BTW - Misano is my favorite color next to Imola, the gold undercoat makes the car SICK in direct sunlight and the only red car I've ever seen that remains red under parking lot halogens. NICE

The Aluminum mirrors would show so nice over the Misano - not as much on the Ibis White - as you can see in my pics.

Why would you put these on a non-S car? To me it's like taping a Nike swoosh to your shoes or something.

It's still an Audi part ***********. Why does the optional S-Line package come with the S5 bodykit on a non S model? Why do people buy S5/S4 wheels for their A5/A4 cars? CUZ THEY LOOK NICE!

And why would you top out a 3.2 A4 when you're so close to S4 money?
