Default no, this is different than the voice control option that lets you control nav, cd, radio, etc...
only works for phone

Default should i just get the $250 vag usb kit?
or might the dealer be open to doing these mods?

Default The Micro-CAN isn't compatible to the A5/S5, the HEX+CAN is, but your dealer...
...might not be able to, even if he is willing.

Default the 09's have voice activation
the usa 09's have it activated but i read that the telephone isnt, or somethinhg.... anyone know?

Will activating the button have any negative effects on the MMI? Does this only activate the BT for the phone? What about the GPS?

Yes. This was performed on my car, which is a 2008. The 2009 already has the voice system active.
