Should I change oil at 10,000 for the S5 or wait for 15,000 ?
I did my 5,000 mile oil change, didn't realize I'm now at 9,000.
My Audi service Rep said - come back at 15,000 miles.
Should I change oil at 10,000 ?
I replaced my BMW coupe with the S5. And with the BMW, the oil change was at 15,000 mile interval between oil change - 15K, 30K, 45K. Is it too soon to change oil at 5,000 miles ??

Follow the manufacturer recommendations and change the oil at 15,000 and every 10,000 thereafter. Keep your eye on the mmi oil level as you will probably have to add oil before the 10,000 miles elapse.

How long has it been since your last oil change? I have to change my oil based on elapsed time because 10,000 miles is a couple of years of driving for me.

If I had followed the Audi recommendation on my A4 1.8T, I would be changing oil (with dino) every 10,000 miles.
Two years after I bought the A4, Audi came out with a service bulletin reducing interval and increasing the size of the filter (engine failures prompted this change).
I changed my oil every 5,000 miles with synthetic. And my engine is still running well at 153,000 miles, and minimal oil burn (1/2 quart in 5,000 miles)

I change my oil at 5,000 miles or every six months. I have rebuilt engines in the past and have seen the effects of not changing oils regularly - and seen the effects of what the inside looks like after regular oil changes

Imo, changing the oil more often is cheap insurance if you plan to keep the car a long time, if not, stick to the 10K.

Ditto, I did synthetic every 3K on my new '00 A4 1.8t, and 160K miles later it is still on it's first turbo (after being APR chipped at 700 miles!). I had the car from 2000 - 2008, and sold it to one of my good friends. He says it is running perfect.

I changed the oil with synthetic on our BMW e28 M5 every 12-15k miles and it looked brand new inside when I did the timing chain at 170k. It used the same amount of oil at 175k as at 15k.
Same with an old turbo Audi 5000 Quattro at 170k.
Oils, along with metallurgy and manufacturing tolerances have come a long way. You had to change the engine on our '35 Ford about as often as you change the oil on new cars.
